Luthien- Closeup by Syntheta-NZ Luthien- Closeup by Syntheta-NZ
Finally got around to cleaning up the face and getting a better close-up image of my Luthien drawing.

My interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien's Luthien Tinuviel. Unlike the elves in the movie she's wearing vibrant colours to reflect that it was the spring of Elvenkind in MiddleEarth (the first age), and she is often depicted wearing blue. The jewel on her headdress is the Silmaril that Beren and Luthien took from the Crown of Morgoth.
The reference photo is here: [link] I made her features a little more Elven.
Prismacolor pencils, this section is 12x19cm.

Wait a minute - aren't all elves blonde? (Except for Elrond and his children - he was half-elven.) It looks perfect otherwise.

No. The Noldor were described as having black hair, occasionally brown or red. Even some of the Avari and Sindar had dark hair. Lúthien is described by Tolkien as having dark hair, and anyway, her mother was Melian- a Maia, not an elf.
